Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Majella Catholic Primary School, a welcoming and culturally diverse school community in Balga.

At Majella, every child and family is valued, respected and supported. Our Catholic identity is expressed through the way we learn, serve and care for one another, guided by our school values of Respect, Service, Excellence and Compassion. These values are at the heart of our relationships, our teaching and the decisions we make each day.

Our community includes families from many different countries, cultures, faith traditions and language backgrounds. We are proud of this diversity and the richness it brings to school life. While our experiences may be different, our shared hopes for our children and our commitment to supporting one another unite us as a community.

For many children and families, Majella provides their first experience of schooling in Australia. We understand the importance of ensuring that every family feels welcomed, included and confident in becoming part of our school. Our Intensive English Centre and English as an Additional Language or Dialect programmes provide targeted teaching and support for students who are developing their English language skills, helping them to participate successfully in learning and school life.

Our teaching is informed by contemporary educational research and a clear understanding of the individual needs of our students. Through explicit teaching, structured learning programs and targeted intervention, we aim to provide every child with the foundations they need to experience success. Our approach is also informed by trauma-aware practice and the Berry Street Education Model, supporting students to develop positive relationships, emotional regulation, resilience and readiness to learn.

Majella is a school where children are known as individuals. Our staff work closely with families, specialist teachers and support services to respond to students’ academic, social, emotional and pastoral needs. We believe that strong partnerships between the school, families, parish and wider community are essential to helping children grow in confidence, independence and hope.

Alongside our focus on literacy, numeracy and English language development, students participate in a broad curriculum that includes Religious Education, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Education, the Arts and a range of community and cultural experiences.

We are proud to be a supportive school community in which children are encouraged to feel safe, develop a sense of belonging, celebrate their identity and strive for excellence.

I warmly invite you to explore our website, visit Majella Catholic Primary School and discover how our community can support your child and family.
