At Majella, every child and family is valued, respected and supported. For many children and families, Majella provides their first experience of schooling in Australia. We understand the importance of ensuring that every family feels welcomed, included and confident in becoming part of our school. Our Intensive English Centre and English as an Additional Language or Dialect programmes provide targeted teaching and support for students who are developing their English language skills, helping them to participate successfully in learning and school life.
Our teaching is informed by contemporary educational research and a clear understanding of the individual needs of our students. Through explicit teaching, structured learning programs and targeted intervention, we aim to provide every child with the foundations they need to experience success. Our approach is also informed by trauma-aware practice and the Berry Street Education Model, supporting students to develop positive relationships, emotional regulation, resilience and readiness to learn.
Majella is a school where children are known as individuals. Our staff work closely with families, specialist teachers and support services to respond to students’ academic, social, emotional and pastoral needs.
